Sebastian Kurz election victory

Election results indicate that Austria, which has moderated parties in the center for decades, will now turn right as the new ruling coalition is likely to be the OVP and FPO, the parties that advocate a tougher attitude towards illegal immigrants and radical Islam than the Social Democrats.
Both the OVP and FPO focused their campaign on issues of illegal immigration and called for more firm control of the Austrian borders and the rapid deportation of asylum seekers whose requests were rejected, as well as the tackletheradical Islam.
Kurz is the youngest head of state in the EU. The key to his success is his ability to deal with important national topics of interest to the Right political spectrum in an appropriate way, without going into harsh rhetoric or extremism.
